Doesn't it make your heart melt - Geraldine with her six gosling's tucked up under her wings.
Movies...
James had friends over and Abbey wasn't feeling too great - so a decadent splurge to go to the movies in the middle of the day. I really enjoyed it of course Pierce Brosnan was excellent, and I really liked Trine Dyrholm, so much so that I have already looked up other movies she is in. Abbey said it was an ok movie, yes we could work out the plot, but a nice afternoon treat.
Rock of Ages oh my PLEASE! It felt like we were watching Glee... we suffered to the end and a vote of 2/5 from the kids and I. Saying that there were some parts that made us belly laugh and twisted sisters is now in our vocab.
Minimalist...
I'm amazed each time an area is revisited just how much more ready I am to let go of more items. I have only one shelf now of cookbooks. Ummm not ready to purge any of my herb books yet - still 2 shelves here and um many more on other book cases
Cookbooks, bathroom cupboards and kitchen utility draw was sorted yesterday.
I'm even ready to let go of my grandmother's egg beater - I don't use it but it has sentimental memories - as my grandma taught me to cook and I remember whipping egg whites to make Louise slice with this. I'd visit in the holidays and I could always choose what I wanted to help her fill the tins with. The egg beater will be listed on Trade Me today and hopefully go to a new home who collects retro items... My grandma will be surprised at how collectable these are and the prices they are going for
Abbey got James to get down her childhood toys she had packed away. She is having a big sort through of items she wants to move on - she is hoping to sell on Trade Me as she is wanting to buy books. As she may not be able to have children she is looking at the items very differently. Plus she thinks some other little girl might enjoy the toys now. And if she does have children she thinks they would prefer new modern items. Abbey is very much a minimalist - her grandmother was (Brent's mum so maybe it is in her genes?)
Mums with little children the time does go very quickly, at the time it feels like forever but looking back they grow up very fast. We had fond memories of Brent playing Barbies with Abbey. He would always make the Barbie scratch their bottom... DADS!
FarmStay Guests.
Warm welcomes to Minka. Minka is back for another visit and seemed to remember our routine and has settled in really well.
Olly goes home today (Friday) - I'm rather fond of Olly so will miss him. He is soo easy to look after and gives the biggest purrs and smoochies.
Molly hoping for birds to come to the feeder. The birds do not seem to like the new feeder.. or is it too close to the cats?
Isn't Molly stunning - very much looks like her mother Laura sitting on the shelf.
Bella wouldn't keep still for a photo, too busy rubbing around my legs. You can just see her tail in this photo.

The cats have quite a nice view don't you think?

you are doing well with your cleanout. Geraldine is a sweet mum.

Leanne, Hugh would be so impressed, he is always suggesting I tidy, discard, throw away, and i have heard the odd mention of " A Skip Bin"...Horrors, if I am away maybe I need to sort out all keepables first. Lovely little goslings, mummy goose does so well. Cheers from Jean
ReplyDeleteJean, I've fully embraced the minimalist lifestyle. Got to keep up our counter cultural impression. What I find amazing is each time I revisit an area I am ready to let go of more items.

Great job on minimizing! That's on my "bucket list" LOL...I agree with you on how fast our babies grow. I have boxes of stuff I'm sentimental about and keeping it for the grandies.
ReplyDeleteSmile My sentimental treasures HAD to be looked at yesterday. I'm now ready to let more go. And if I'm lucky to get grandbabies they will get new items. As I love kids I'm sure some little kids will come into our lives to be loved as my grandma did for me.
